The end of each year is an incredibly busy time. At work, we’re busy trying to complete projects before the New Year begins. There are countless end of year parties and events. For families, even the kids are busy! End of year school activities, concerts, performances and sport finals keep us running around more than usual. And all this before we even think about the Christmas shopping or food preparation!
This Christmas, try these energy boosting recipes to help keep you up and running!
Christmas Protein Balls
Do you like rum balls at Christmas? These healthy alternatives taste delicious and will give you a powerful protein and energy punch! A perfect snack for when you’re on the run!
• 12 Medjool Dates
• 1 Tablespoon Raw Cacao (some extra for rolling)
• 1 Tablespoon pure raw honey (try Natural Life honeycomb)
• 1 tablespoon Natural Life Bee Pollen
• 1 Tablespoon Organic Coconut Oil (melt to liquid)
• 1/2 cup of almond meal
• 2-3 drops orange essence
Method: Blend the almond meal and bee pollen in a high-speed mixer then set aside. Blend the medjool dates, honey, coconut oil and orange essence until dates are completely smooth. Add the almond/bee pollen mix. You can add a small amount of water if you feel the mix is too dry. Using your hands, take a small amount of the mixture and roll into a ball. Coat the ball in raw cacao and continue until your batch is done!
YUM! You can store these sweet energising treats in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.
Healthy Christmas Eggnog (Egg-free, Dairy Free, Sugar-free!)
• 3 cups almond milk
• 1 tablespoon raw honey
• 1 soft banana
• 1 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
• ½ teaspoon cinnamon
BOOST IT WITH: 1 tablespoon of Natural Life Bee Pollen adds many vitamins, including B Vitamins for energy and amino acids for protein and stamina.
OR FOR THE KIDS: Add a tablespoon of Natural Life Colostrum Milk Powder with added calcium and natural immune support, this is a great healthy holiday treat for the kids!
METHOD: Blend all ingredients together at high speed until frothy. If you’d like more sweetness, add a medjool date or two.
